Continuing our relationship with Future Publishing we were asked to design and build their 2010 edition of the PC Gamer Top 100. This site allows users to register and vote for their top 5 PC games of all time, in doing so it will shape the top 100 PC games of all time.

Technologically this was very valuable to both Evisua and Future Publishing, not only is this a very useful and ideal platform to be used throughout all of Future’s portfolio but also offers a blueprint for specific usable databases that can be passed between brands. In this case we are starting to build up an in depth record of 2500 PC games from the last 20 years, storing information such as developer, publishing, PC Gamer score and gallery items. This makes the process easier for working within brands such as GamesRadar and CVG.

If you want to go vote for your top PC games of all time, check it out now.

Almost a decade ago Peter Gabriel, the musician and digital pioneer, imagined a future of infinite choice. He predicted a world in which people would access any entertainment, anywhere at any time.

Long before The Filter existed as a business it was an idea…

Almost a decade ago Peter Gabriel, the musician and digital pioneer, imagined a future of infinite choice. He predicted a world in which people would access any entertainment, anywhere at any time. Rather than being enriched in a world of infinite choice we would become overwhelmed. “When many of us are drowning in choice,” he said, “we are going to need smart filters…”

Indeed, as the web grew bigger and faster, volumes of content increased exponentially. And, sure enough, the challenges of navigation and discovery soon became an obstacle to enjoyment.

Today, The Filter uses its world-leading recommendations and relevance systems to helps content owners, publishers and aggregators around the world maximise their content and services. The Filter is proven to increase usage and engagement which in turn improves margins… making entertainment services more efficient and competitive. With video, music, applications and games, The Filter consistently out-performs editorial and automated recommendations and crucially, outputs can be skewed or biased to meet specific business goals. One day, all entertainment will be optimized this way. Until then, The Filter is unique.

When The Filter approached us we jumped at the chance to work closely with them on a key area of their business, their B2B outfit. They asked us to design the website that would be sent out to all of their high profile partners as well as to the public at large. This of course a great reach for us and sign up immediately.

The website is relatively straight forward, packed with information about the platform, the business and those involved. It was a pleasure to work on.

Feel free to check out The Filter to see it in action.

What a month it has been at Evisua, now that the memories of Hooters has faded (unfortunately) and the dust has settled, we are in good swing!

Hi guys,

What a month it has been at Evisua, now that the memories of Hooters have faded (unfortunately) and the dust has settled, we are in good swing! As Sam originally posted and as the work section has shown we have launched a couple of projects, BNT & Given.org. The former is BraveNewTalent which you can read about in Sam’s previous blog post.

Given.org was a very interesting experience. Sam and I both attended an even called Launch48, the event is aimed to get a whole host of web and marketing professionals in the same room. A whole load of the attendee’s pitch to the audience and we all vote for the best sounding 6 projects, which we then decide which we want to work on. Given.org was the project we decided to help out with. The guy who pitched it was Lucian, founder of http://www.BraveNewTalent.com so it ended up working out quite well for him that we decided to participate. To cut a long story short we turned around a website, a brand, and a working demo of the Facebook app with the hard work of a crack team of experts. Check out http://www.Given.org to get a little more information on the project.

Another great project we have just started is the website for the PCGamer Top 100, this is their annual “ask the readers” voting platform for finding out what the top 100 games of the year are. The task is to build a games database of 2009’s PC releases and allow the users to vote for their top 10 games, this will in turn decide the top 100 games of 2009 which will be announced next year, online and in the magazine. This a great project I had to pleasure to work on and build while I was at Future a year ago. It will be even more fun being the agency responsible for delivering a far more complex and important product.

We are well underway with a complete rebuild of the Fnatic website, this I can tell you is looking and working superbly! We are very excited by the prospect of launching this, it should blow away pretty much all other eSport websites. So keep an eye out in November for the launch of that!

Finally, I have the pleasure of being invited to the 27th Annual Golden Joystick Awards, presented by comedian Sean Lock at the Park Lane Hilton in London (a few doors away from the studio luckily!). Unfortunately it starts at 11.15am and going on until the wee hours, so as well as bring able to brush shoulders with the biggest names in gaming and a few celeb’s I am able to meet up with a few of my old colleagues at Future Publishing, so a good day and night all round there. More importantly, if not one person is interested in Evisua, UGame or Fnatic, then we must be doing something wrong! So here’s hoping!

For now, back to work!

GIVEN was a very unique experience for the Evisua team, Evisua attended an event called Launch 48 where ideas were pitched to a few hundred individuals of varying skill sets and then voted upon, the best 6 would be worked on and delivered in less than 48 hours. GIVEN was one of these, pitched by Lucian Tanowski of BraveNewTalent.com and worked on by Gavin Weeks and Sam Mathews of Evisua. Evisua were able to define the concepts brand, its usage, styleguide, the website for displaying and the interface for the Facebook app. The app itself was worked on by Alon Azar of BraveNewTalent, Ben Hall and Mark Fullbrook two very talented web developers.

So what is GIVEN?

GIVEN helps companies find and support people’s causes on Facebook.

It gives companies the ability to publicly sponsor fund raising initiatives – whether they are being led by employees, fans or customers. This offers companies a new way to engage with people on Facebook and support worthwhile causes.

For fundraisers GIVEN offers a whole new world of potential sponsors beyond their existing network of family and friends. GIVEN helps people raise money from over 20,000 companies that currently have a presence on Facebook. GIVEN was created in 48 hours by 20 social adventurers for http://www.Launch48.com

GIVEN will be launching the Facebook app before the end of October 2009. Check out http://www.given.org to see what we have done.

BraveNewTalent.com is a new social networking platform, designed to connect the world’s top talent with employers of their choice.

BraveNewTalent.com is a new social networking platform, designed to connect the world’s top talent with employers of their choice. Their aim is to allow talent to assume control of their career search, and to reduce the complications involved. In an online world, it is time to change how talent and employers connect.

When we took this project on we knew we could get the most out of our impressive platform. We had less than two months to build this from the ground up, and we are happy to say that we delivered, with interest!

This is what they had to say about working with us:

“Evisua certainly is London’s most lovable web design studio! We have had many fun times, late nights and laughs over the last couple of months rebuilding the site from scratch. We brought in Evisua after recognising our existing platform had poor foundations and needed a full rebuild. We knew what we wanted and with the help of Evisua we have now relaunched! The team has worked closely with our own project manager and have together created a fantastic product and we are now looking forward to building on our relationship through further iterations of our product. Big thanks to Evisua – they come highly recommended to all.”

Back in August we had an awesome time at our Launch party, complete with some amazing live DJ’s in Evisua’s favourite type of music, HOUSE! The boys on the decks back then were none other than LeatherHead, the dynamic duo from FIASCO London.

After this event we met up with the FIASCO boys who were after a new image, and a swanky new website where they could flaunt their wares. They wanted something which was a little edgy, and fashionable, but also functional to represent their companies up coming activities.

We went to the drawing board and have delivered what we feel is a fairly simple, but powerful design on the website, to represent what was previously a brand without an Identity. Check the identity section to find out more about the FIASCO brand identiy which we have created for them.

Check out the website we created for the Talented fiasco, www.FIASCOLondon.com and stay tuned for great new things from them in the future!

In just under two months we have re-built the complete site of BraveNewTalent.com from scratch, we're on a roll now!

When we started EVISUA, we wanted to show that we could take our team that has worked together for many years on our own sites and using that same expertise, make large scale websites of the highest calibre for outside clients. With BraveNewTalent we believe we have done exactly that!

In just under two months we have re-built the complete site of BraveNewTalent.com from scratch, on a tight budget, sticking within the deadlines and specification. We have delivered a site which went above and beyond our clients expectations and as a company we are extremely proud of our first large scale website!

Of course creating BraveNewTalent wouldn’t be possible without the BNT Team themselves, we thank them for their vision, their testing and their openness. As well as being great clients, we have also a had a great time as friends with them, sharing a laugh or two throughout the build phase was important, I’m sure this will continue in the months to come!

BraveNewTalent is a relatively unique concept, here is a summary of it:
BraveNewTalent brings out the best of online recruitment and social networking combining them to create the ultimate interactive job search. Through BraveNewTalent.com Talent and Employers can interact through messaging and forums offering a plethora of information about one another. Talent also has the opportunity to create relationships with other Talent gaining insight about potential employers before applying. Ultimately both the Talent and the Employer will have more information about one another creating a longer-lasting and better work-place experience.

We have worked closely with the team of Lucian Tarnowski, Alon Azar and Tim Tottenham from BraveNewTalent, here is what they had to say about working with us:

“Evisua certainly is London’s most lovable web design studio! We have had many fun times, late nights and laughs over the last couple of months rebuilding the site from scratch. We brought in Evisua after recognising our existing platform had poor foundations and needed a full rebuild. We knew what we wanted and with the help of Evisua we have now relaunched!
Lucian Tarnowski, Founder and CEO BraveNewTalent.com

We’re excited to see where BraveNewTalent can go, and look forward to doing much more work with them in the future.

We are exploring some more exciting projects to work on soon, so if you or your company are after a new site, a redesign or even just a chat to talk about possibilities, then feel free to drop us a line!

Bye for now,
Sam

Delivering the most influential individuals in tech to a tight timescale.

When our friends over at T3 decided to give us a call to design, build and deliver them a site within a very short timescale, we were happy to oblige!

The T3 Tech 100 is a definitive list of the most influential individuals involved in the technology. The shortlist includes people such as Bill Gates, Stephen Fry and Mark Zuckerberg, even Barack Obama was included because of his vast and active use of social media during his presidency campaign.

This to us was a very interesting project for us, not only was it on a subject that was quite close to our hearts and working with a team of professionals that we know very well but also because T3 is a world leading brand in technology journalism. It was our pleasure to deliver this, on budget and on time.

From a tech perspective this site was far more functional than it looks, not only does it give the T3 guys to create a profile for each member of this list, it allows them to re-arrange them with ease, apply categories, tags, twitter and blog feeds, which in turn influence other areas of the site such as the tag cloud and search features. This is a fully customizable and functional platform.

I am not in Kansas any more Dorothy!

So, as I write this I am sat in the marble soaked lobby area of Las Palmeras hotel in southern Tenerife. So yes, we have established I am not in Kansas (London) any more Dorothy! You may think it pretty sad that I am writing a blog while in such a sun soaked and gorgeous island the truth is I am still working my little beanies off! (I have no idea what a “beanie” is in this context!

We have a few fast approaching deadlines with both BNT (Brave New Talent) an T3 (Future Publishing) which all arrive within a week of my return to the UK on the 17th, so the obvious option is to take one for the team and spend a few hours a day helping out, after all, the work would be on my mind anyway! In this case, big up’s to Sam, Michal, Paul and Antti for “hauling some ass” while I am luckily sunning it up!

I am of course still relaxing and having a good time, watched England’s demolition of Croatia last night in Hooters, interesting really, they have a reputation for being sleazy and/or tacky, the latter being true and actually written on their shirts! I am also taking some time on the beach and enjoying the all inclusive lifestyle as a true Brit, getting your money’s worth! I have also bought and awesome hat, which I will get a picture of later to show just how awesome it is!

For no, the restaurant is opening up so must be time for dinner, no more coding, design or email housekeeping for today!

The awesome hat
